Something To Mediate On . . .
(Maurice’s Note: “Something To Meditate On” is a weekly devotional written by our organic church friend Blanca Ayre of Hays Kansas, whose own “good deeds” story can be found on page 172 of our book, The Least Of These).
Life won’t get better by chance, it only gets better by change. But change is hard. It’s a trial that stretches you and challenges you in every way possible. And what makes it more challenging is that we are told to rejoice when we fall into various trials. (James 1:2-3). So, how do we rejoice in all things, when not all things are good? We begin by not grumbling or complaining or having a bad attitude, or feeling sorry for ourselves. By keeping a pure heart and a right spirit, no matter what the circumstances are. That doesn’t mean it’s going to be easy, because trials don’t test our character, or our strength, or our will. They test our faith. And a faith that’s tried and tested is more precious than gold: “so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” (1 Peter 1:7). ~ Blanca
